Woodhall, Would You?
My first visit to Woodhall Spa was to check out the Kinema In The Woods, an historic cinema that dates back to 1922, and is now the only full functioning cinema in the UK to employ back projection. A more recent visit introduced me to the numerous independent shops that make up this quaint high street in this Lincolnshire village and its interesting WWII history.
Shopping on the Broadway
The first shop to attract my attention was Enchanted Bloom, a beautiful florist and gift shop. Its incredible display of handmade wreaths and swags immediately caught my eye. On entering the shop I soon realised that it was more than just a florist as it had a lovely choice of home accessories and jewellery.
With a beautiful Christmas themed window Molly & Me Interiors was irresistible. Stocking a beautiful array of infants clothing, wooden toys and decorative nursery accessories it is a must for anyone shopping for small children. It also sells home furnishings, lighting, wall art and an array of homewares for all ages.
Woodhall Spa’s delicatessen and bakery
In complete contrast to the Christmas window of Molly & Me was the spooktacular display at the bakery and delicatessen. It looks to me as these scary skeletons missed out on the glorious selections of bread, pies, cakes and other delicious treats.
Not much wider than a garden bench Britain’s smallest shoe shop is located at number 1 The Broadway and definitely gives you a feel for what’s to come. I must admit, having made my way to Woodhall Spa in search of some much needed black nail polish, I was pleasantly surprised by the vast array of unique independent shops within close proximity to one another.
My favourite was SELF, a ladies boutique, that stocked a curated collection of stylish clothing, candles, gifts and greetings cards. You could even treat yourself to a cheeky coffee whilst browsing. My treat to myself was a pair of sparkly socks and a pack of St.Eval Winter Thyme scented tea lights. I just wish you could smell this image!
A little bit of Woodhall Spa’s history
Of course, the unique shopping experience isn’t all that Woodhall Spa has to offer, and whilst I was in town I did some delving into some of its history. For anyone who has an interest in WWII a visit to the former Officers’ Mess at the Petwood Hotel is a must. I found it a truly moving experience. Not only that but the hotel serves a very reasonably priced lunch and has grounds that are well worth exploring.
